Leadership & Emotional Maturity

Becoming a leader who can be yourself, stay relational, lead with joy, and endure hardship well.

Teacher: Whitney Nadeau

Panel: Derrick DeLain, Ben Tugwell, Whitney Nadeau

How do I lead when things are hard for me? It takes a different level of emotional maturity to not be wrecked by the comments and actions of others. Even more, it takes a lot of work to be able to connect relationally with people you are leading. We will all endure hardship as we lead in the church; come learn how to do that well.

Leading with Vision:

Learn to tell a compelling story that moves people.

Teacher: Spence Shelton

Panel: Mike McKee, Carlos Lollett, Ryan Brooks

We all have passions and burdens for God’s kingdom to move forward. To varying degrees, we can see a dream for the future that God has placed on our hearts. That dream, burden, and passion are gifts from God. But none of those things in and of themselves are vision. Vision is the skill of telling that dream in a way that helps others see the story and rallies them to join the movement. Come develop that skill.

Leading Through Change:

How to create lasting change without leaving people behind.

Teacher: Ryan McCammack

Panel: Will Toburen, Logan Dagley, Ryan McCammack

People don’t fear change, people fear loss. Any time we lead people somewhere new, they are experiencing real and feared losses. So how do we lead people through the landscape (or wilderness) of what they have known to something new? Whether you are revitalizing, starting a new ministry, or even just multiplying more groups, don’t leave people behind. Lead them through the change.

Developing Women on your Team:

How to pay attention to the growth of more than half your church.

Teacher: Kristen Greene

Panel: Josh Hill, Mandy Foster, Kelsey Fowler.

In order for our churches to thrive, we must learn to develop all of our leaders. And that means giving specific attention to how we are developing women. Regardless of where your church draws “the line,” come learn how to create pathways for growth for the women on your staff and in your congregation.

Recruiting Volunteers:

Because we all need more of them.

Teacher: Freddy T. Wyatt

Panel: Kyle Wilkinson, Anna Hathaway, Freddy T Wyatt

You want to equip the saints. You care about the specific gifting of your people. AND you have a few holes to fill for this Sunday. Come learn (and practice) how to grow your ministry by growing the number of people engaged in serving at your church.

Stop Micromanaging:

Letting go of control and unleashing your leaders.

Teacher: Jason Douglas

Panel: Caleb Duvick, Jason Douglas, Yana Conner

“If they can be 80% as good as you, let them do it.” “Let leaders lead.” “You need to think more big picture and get out of the details.” It is all easier said than done. It takes practice to manage people and not micromanage them.

The Power of Prayer:

THE way to determine direction and THE fuel for ministry

Teacher: Chuck Reed

Panel: Dustin Crawford, Ethan Welch, Chuck Reed

What if God wanted to lead us as we are leading our ministries? What would we do then? Come to this breakout to be challenged in how prayer is not just something we do before meetings, but it is a life-giving connection to the divine. Without it, we don’t know what we are actually leading.

Leveling Up Your Leadership:

Moving from managing tasks to leading leaders.

Teacher: Lee Cadden

Panel: Kevin Stone, Kaylyn Clayton, Lee Cadden

There comes a time as a leader when there is too much to manage, and you can no longer get your hands around everything you are responsible for. At that moment, you need to move away from managing tasks and toward coaching your leaders. It is the most difficult transition in the leadership journey, but it’s the one you need to make.

Managing Staff:

Because people are the most important part of the movement.

Teacher: Bobby Herrington

Panel: David Vogel, Terry-Lee Kirkland, Bobby Herrington

People decisions are the most important decisions, and people decisions are the most difficult decisions. If you are responsible for overseeing 1 or 25 people on a staff, you need to be continually improving your leadership of those people. But managing staff is not just normal leadership. It is employment, care, and equipping all wrapped into one complicated 40-50 hour a week dynamic.

Leadership Communication:

Plumblines for effective communication.

Teacher: Corbin Hobbs

Panel: Jason Gaston, Kari Wilson, Corbin Hobbs

Every ministry leader - from ministry coordinator to lead pastor - is communicating and that communication needs to be clear, not necessarily catchy. From email to stage announcements, join us as we learn to lead through our communication.

Leading Good Meetings:

Learn to lead meetings that people like and make your team more effective.

Teacher: Janetta Oni

Panel: Janetta Oni, Jake Greear, Aaron Turner

You know those dreaded meetings that should have been an email? Well, this is definitely not that. Come consider how to make meetings that matter, including what meetings you should be doing (and the ones you should stop having altogether).

Discerning Direction:

Knowing yourself and figuring out your future.

Teacher: Tom Howe

Panel: Hilary Smith, Wes Smith, Tom Howe

Knowing your Enneagram, Strengths Finder, or Myers Briggs is all good and well, but what can you actually do with all of it? And how can you discern what specific call God has on your life? We put our best gurus in one room to unpack how self awareness and direction can move you, and those you lead, forward into the future God has called you to.
